Break out the House of Holland tees and gold lamé stockings. This is a basement venue that’s comparable to The Annex in New York or Old Blue Last in London, brimming with scenesters, Kitsune fans and party-happy locals on most days of the week.
Social Club has been enjoying prolonged longevity in the city’s cool circuit ever since opening in the spring of 2008, thanks to its 10KW sound system and an outstanding repertoire of live electro acts like Justice, Gomma, Simian Mobile Disco and the ever-omnipresent Steve Aoki. The Fluokids are regulars, as are the under-30 set. The door policy can be somewhat aggressive, with the doorman batting away kids like flies after its 500-person capacity has been reached.
